Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend…
Ex 33:11
Many claim to be Christians and pretend to know Christ. But do they know what they are talking about? We should learn from an amazing example in the Bible about a man who knew God but who sought to know Him more.
God and Moses were intimate friends. They spoke to each other face to face (Ex 33:11) yet Moses wanted more so he asked God for His presence to go with them (Ex. 33:14-15). And God is amazing. He said to Moses, “ I will do this thing for you. I will answer you prayer. I’ll be with you.” But Moses was not satisfied. He prayed some more “18Then Moses said, “I pray that You will show me Your glory!” And God did accordingly!
Ptr. Peter Tanchi prayed the same to God. In his own words, he said, “You know, many years ago, when I encountered this verse in my devotion, in my quiet time. I told the Lord, I said, “Lord, if you are not with CCF, I don’t want to be the pastor of CCF. Lord, if you are not with CCF, I don’t want this ministry.” I want God’s presence.”
Intimacy is a lifetime journey. God wants you to know Him more and more. We can never say, “I know God already”. God wants us to keep learning about His love, His wisdom, His heart. So are we willing to ask the same prayer to God? To know Him intimately? So that God will say to us these words He said to Moses:
The LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.
Ex 33:17-18
“I am a friend of God
He calls me friend
God Almighty, Lord of Glory
You have called me friend”
