John 14:5- 7
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
A couple of months ago, I was invited to a wedding in LA, in Malibu. I used a GPS. The address was 6800, so I punched in 6,800, Malibu. From LA I went to the highway obeying the audio instruction of the GPS. But my wife was very smart, she said, “Honey, look at the first number. It’s already over 10,000.” But the gadget says “go right”, so we were going right. But the number kept going up. Anyway, I kept going and going. In my mind, Malibu is such a long stretch and this wedding, why does it have to be in such a faraway place? But you know what? The number was not getting any nearer 6800. In my mind, maybe it’s like in the Philippines, sometimes the number goes up, sometimes it goes down. But my wife said, “Honey, I know the US system, something is not right.” Now, gentlemen, you have to humble yourself because she has been asking me, “Stop, please stop, ask for help.” So I stopped at a gas station and asked. You know I discovered something about universal human nature. Sometimes even if they don’t know, they would say, “ahh, there, there, there” (pointing the face towards a certain direction).
But you know what? God is good. At that point in the gas station I received a phone call.
The person on the line said, “Where are you?”
I said, “What address is it?”
“It’s 26,800,” she replied.
I said, “You gave me 6,800.” I checked her e-mail and it is really 6,800.
She said, “I really meant to say 26,800.” Somebody forgot to type the number 2!
Some may say it’s just a small difference without the number 2. But try looking for 6800 in Malibu!
Do you understand why God cares about what you believe in? It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference. You cannot compromise the truth. That’s a principle in life which I want you to learn. Truth is important because truth will set the direction of your life. If the direction of your life is wrong, you will never reach your destination. It’s common sense. Your destination will determine your direction, and your direction determines your destination. You know that in driving. But how come when it comes to life, you don’t connect the two? If you are headed in the wrong direction in life, you will never reach your destination. You want a happy home, but your direction in life is against the Bible. You are womanizing, you are spending time in business, you are compromising, and you are cheating. You want a happy home? That’s your direction, that’s your intention, that’s your destination. But you are headed in the wrong direction. You’ve got to change. You want a happy home? Change your direction because intention does not determine destination. It is direction; and you have one direction from the Bible, from God. You follow the Word of God.
Some of you, I don’t know where you are spiritually. You are headed in the wrong direction. And let me repeat. Wrong direction will never reach the destination. No matter what is your intention, you can be sincere, and be sincerely wrong. You’ve got to know the truth and the truth is this: Jesus Christ is our Savior, the Son of God. Sounds too simplistic?
It’s never too late to change direction. But your direction will never be right until you study the Bible. So what do you need to do? Do you mind studying the Bible starting today? (PTC)
Jesus, take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can’t do this on my own
I’m letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I’m on
Jesus, take the wheel
