It was an afternoon of prayer, praise and worship for the nation – and for President Benigno “Noynoy” C. Aquino III.
The special event dubbed as “Prayer for President Benigno S. Aquino III,” gathered close to 15,000 Christians from CCF and other churches at the World Trade Center in Pasay City last January 30 at 3:30PM to bear witness not only to Pnoy’s speech but to listen to God’s Word.
CCF Senior Pastor Peter Tan-chi gave a short evangelistic message based on Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation” He started by saying that God has great plans for the Philippines. “The Bible says, ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart,” he says.
This was immediately followed by the message of President Aquino who shared several good news that his administration has accomplished in the span of six months to help uplift the lives of the nation and the Filipino people.
He then bowed his head, closed his eyes and was prayed over by Bishop Jonel R. Milan, Founder-President of K4 Philippines Intercessors Movement, a prayer movement that focuses on the different 4K prayer concerns – Kalusugan (good health), Kaligtasan (protection), Karunungan (wisdom) and Katwiran (righteousness). He was then given a Bible as a gift.
The event also had three different phases of prayer time which also focused not only on the executive branch of the government but also with the judiciary and legislative. Barangay captains, mayors, governors, different officials of the government, teachers, national problems and other important concerns like the church and the Filipino family were also prayed for. Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno, businessman Francis Kong and journalist Luchi Cruz-Valdez were some of the prayer leaders.
Ivan Tan gave a short testimony about how God has transformed his life.
The event started with a praise and worship by the CCF Exalt Team and a 10-minute exhortation on prayer by Pastor Ed Lapiz of Day by Day Ministries. This was also covered by TV networks such as TV5.
