DANIEL’S PATTERN (DANIEL 9:1-3)

-Adoration (Praise)-v. 4)

-Confession (v. 5)

-Supplication (v. 6)

Daniel 9:1-4 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—

[2] in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.

[3] So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.

[4] And I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, "Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments,

[5] we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly, and rebelled, even turning aside from Thy commandments and ordinances.

[6] "Moreover, we have not listened to Thy servants the prophets, who spoke in Thy name to our kings, our princes, our fathers, and all the people of the land.

What was David praying for? In v. 16, He is asking God basically to turn away his anger from who? Was He praying for himself or for others? What do you call that kind of prayer? Intercession. So ganon ang kanyang pattern basically he reads the bible he prepares his heart then he go through the acts of prayer, adoration, confession and supplication, intercession for others, each of those we can preach one sermon on. I’d like to share with you a simple truth tonight, maybe why our prayers are not answered and if we adopt this principle into our life this evening, I believe that God will orchestrate you life just like He does Daniel. What is the secret of Daniel’s Prayer? In fact if you study all of the prayers in the bible makikita mo it is the underpinning of them all. It’s not something that you will see in many literature. What do you think God is looking at? Is he looking at the style, is he looking at the pattern of the prayer? What in chapter 9, tells you that is not what God is looking at? Pag tiningnan mo yung chapter 9, yung mga elements of prayer, God did look at the specific element. What verse tells you that is something more than that? How do you know it’s not the format? The answers are in v. 20 and 21. Okay, character of the person, how do you know what word tells you it’s not the form? Look at v. 23, what in verse 23 tells you it’s not the form? Nag-uumpisa pa lang may sagot na. Many people really, we came from a background that we were doing prayers by route. There’s nothing wrong with patters but you know, If you will just copy the pattern of Daniel your prayers will not get answered. Ninety percent of the prayer of the books and prayer that’s what they tell you. May we suggest to you this evening yung mga techniques na yon maganda yan pero ang assumption ng lahat na yon there’s something that they assume which must be brought to the core. This evening we will all come away much closer to the Lord. Let’s back track from v. 23 as started praying. Start in Daniel 9:3

So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. Notice the objective, to seek Him. Many times we read the bible, we learn many lessons we never see God, we never had an intimate conversation with Him. To seek God yan po ang objective ng prayer. If you do not find God you miss the point so pag nagbabasa ka lagi ang question mo, where is God here, what can I learn, How can I commune with God. In all of life there’ only one thing that is important to know God. Do you know what eternal life is? In John 17:3, it says, and this is eternal life, what is it? That I may know you the only true God and Jesus Christ. To know intimately therefor to seek him is your goal, to know Him that’s your objective in prayer. So, how do you seek Him? by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. Many of us do not understand what this things are and so we missed the … this order is the correct order if your heart is correct, what God looks at is your heart, God looks at you the one who is praying and the greatest prayer are not those that are long, the greatest prayer always come from men of great character, from men who have a heart for God. Now, somewhere in here we will expose you to the principle pag tiningnan po ninyo yan may prayer, fasting, adoration, what is the key, how do you know that a person’s heart is right? Kasi sabi ng bible sa Jeremiah man’s heart is very deceitful, man’s heart will be deceived himself so therefor how do you know that your heart is right? When you confess. In other words we will explore tonight the bottom line. How do you know when your heart is right? I’d like to talk about that a little bit this evening and show you a simple and yet powerful principle in the bible, we will see it all through out. Many Christians they read the bible, they know it in their head and yet puro porma lang, it’s true they have the right actions, they have the right words but their hearts are empty, their hearts are not there that’s why yung behavior niya up and down. Most Christians are like that, they have to be reminded you know why? Because the heart is not right. I’ll give you a simple instructions before I begin. You know you need to understand that sin is against God. Many times we don’t develop the broken and contrite heart because we do not really understand that we are hurting God that we are breaking his heart. Turn to Psalm 51:3-4

For I know my transgressions,

and my sin is always before me.

[4] Against you, you only, have I sinned

and done what is evil in your sight,

You got that perspective? Many times our focus is not on God, therefor our definition of sin is not focus against God. You see sin is against God. Any sin that you commit is against God Himself that it should bring shame to us. How dare we sin against God. That’s a mark that somewhere inside you is pride, somewhere deep inside and we begin to excuse our sin that’s no longer a broken and contrite heart. You know the pharisees they prayed a lot, but you know they have proud heart, God did not listen to them. Tonight we need to search our heart, Do I have a broken and contrite heart. The way to get it:

    1. You focus on God and His greatness
    2. You understand any disobedience it hurts God, it against Him.

Let’s pray.
