Daniel 20th session RAS
June 25, 1997 VVCC
This evening we will begin to embark on the prophetic side of things when we first begun we give you the outline before the book of Daniel is broken down into two parts Chapter 1-6 kinuha na natin. Now we will begin 7-12. Hair raising visions that Daniel was given by God, nakita niya kung ano ang mangyayari sa mundo. It is a good thing to study it. We have two options one to study it in a lot of detail. Tonight we will not do that, we will do an overview tapos magdedetalye tayo. Sabi natin noon this is a preliminary class because we want to teach the class of revelation so what do you need to understand Daniel in the visions here so that pag basa mo ng revelation mas maiintindihan natin so I’ll tried to make it as lay mans as possible but these are exciting chapters because they talk about kung ano yung mangyayari. Tonight mago-over view muna tayo. So let’s read together. Daniel 7:1-28, In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying on his bed. He wrote down the substance of his dream.
[2] Daniel said: "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea. [3] Four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.
[4] "The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were torn off and it was lifted from the ground so that it stood on two feet like a man, and the heart of a man was given to it.
[5] "And there before me was a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. It was told, 'Get up and eat your fill of flesh!'
[6] "After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.
[7] "After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast--terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
[8] "While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
[9] "As I looked,
"thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
[10] A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
The court was seated,
and the books were opened.
[11] "Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. [12] (The other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed to live for a period of time.)
[13] "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. [14] He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
[15] "I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that passed through my mind disturbed me. [16] I approached one of those standing there and asked him the true meaning of all this.
"So he told me and gave me the interpretation of these things: [17] 'The four great beasts are four kingdoms that will rise from the earth. [18] But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and will possess it forever--yes, for ever and ever.'
[19] "Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others and most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws--the beast that crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. [20] I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell--the horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes and a mouth that spoke boastfully. [21] As I watched, this horn was waging war against the saints and defeating them, [22] until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.
[23] "He gave me this explanation: 'The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. [24] The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. [25] He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.
[26] " 'But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. [27] Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.'
[28] "This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to myself."
So basically, si Daniel he had a vision and so this happened in the first year of the king of Babylon of Belshazzar and in the previous chapters, sino yung nagkakaron ng dream yung mga king, ngayon si Daniel na and basically there were what? Four beasts and each one differ from the others. Ano ang interpretation ng four beasts? Where do you find it? Starting from v. 17, So let’s go to the interpretation Daniel 7:16, "So he told me and gave me the interpretation of these things: sino yung nagsasabi sa kanya? Hinde nakalagay but presumably as we will see in the later chapters this is the angel of God. So the four great beasts are four kingdoms that will rise from the earth. Do you remember anything similar to that in the previous chapters? Okay in chapter 2. In other words itong dream ni Daniel followed as the dream of king Nebuchanezzar and four beasts are four earthly kingdoms. Let me show you what the picture was like in chapter two. The gold was Nebuchadnezzar himself, the Babylonian kingdom, Then yung silver the Mead and the Persian sila Darius and then the bronze would be the Greek lead by Alexander the Great then we have the Roman Empire, Anong nangyari diyan sa statue? There was a large stone and it hit the statue where? Dito sa paa and it fell over. So basically what is God saying? God is repeating to Daniel what He told King Nebuchadnezzar. And you know this happened way, way back before it actually marerialized, all of this have now happened. We know from the history books and a lot of Archeology that this visions given by God to king Nebuchadnezzar and to Daniel they have already come true. The descriptions of Daniel of the fourth beast is likely different dito kay king and many historials really believed nagumpisa na ito during the Roman times kaso lang nawala din yung Roman Empire, it disappear but as I told you before many, many of the philosophies the Rome of Roman are still with us. In fact very large segment of the population are now looking to Rome, we have one of the largest churches now Rome base there rather in Jerusalem. We strongly believe that ang mangyayari dito there will come a time it’s started to happen then it got stop. There will come a time when the Roman Empire babalik. Therefor where is the Empire? Sabi ten horns. Daniel 7:19-20 "Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, dun siya nag focus, dun siya nag-concentrate which was different from all the others and most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws--the beast that crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. [20] I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell--the horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes and a mouth that spoke boastfully. Daniel 7:21-23
As I watched, this horn was waging war against the saints and defeating them, [22] until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.
[23] "He gave me this explanation: 'The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. if this idea of the whole earth that makes commentaries and those who study the bible believe that it cannot simply be just the old Roman Empire kasi hinde naman niya nakuha ang buong munde eh so ito ang sinasabi it will be different and it will devour the whole earth. Daniel 7:24-28
The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.
I, Daniel, was deeply troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter to myself." Over view, what can we learn? God predicted well before it happen these things would materialized different kinds of kingdom will come and then would this kingdom prevail on the end? No, The ending is a nice ending, sino magpe-prevail? Christ, so we will just over view tonight lahat po ito, itong tatlo and this to a degree it has already happened, it has materialized in history. What was that tell us? What are the some of principles we can learn? Eto si Daniel nakikita niya yung mga visions God is telling him this things will happen well before it happen. What are some of the principles we can learn from prophesy? 1) God’s word will always be fulfilled. In the world today many are doubtful about the bible they fake the bible is written by man. How can it be that a man could write such things and then hundreds of years later nangyari just as the bible describe it, that’s impossible. It is another proof, fulfilled prophesy is another proof that the bible is God’s word. It is a very strong evidence na yung salita ng God, yung bible natin it comes from God because God is the only one who can see the future and if we take the new testament for example, ang dami-daming prophesy sa new testament about Jesus Christ, in the old testament ganon din. Do you know that three-fourths of the prophesies about Jesus have already come true? In other words the bible is God’s word, whatever the bible says it will be fulfilled more important we are already more half way true, nandon na tayo sa tinatawag nilang end times dumating na si Jesus eh, you know that’s the greatest mark of history. So God’s word will always be fulfilled and three-fourth of it has already come true. Unfortunately many, many people do not understand that, wala silang tiwala sa salita ng Diyos and that’s why many religions, are you surprised when we grew up did we read the bible? I was surprised, I never read it when I was old and grave and if I have read God’s word I don’t know what would happen but what I know now is I used to be a gambling man, I now stake my entire life, my entire well being, everything that I have I will stake from God’s word that it is truth that if it says, merong heaven tsaka hell meron ganon at tsaka if it tells you if you sin once you are bound for hell I believe that and if tells you that the only way out of there is through Jesus Christ I believe that too. It’s not through a church, it’s through Jesus. So, 1) God’s word - get into God’s word it is always true. You know pag nagdasal tayo what does God word say about prayer? Your prayer will always be answered depending on certain conditions, if you’re praying in accordance to God’s will it will be answer, if your obedient to God then your prayer will be answer. So the principle for those of you who are single is found 2 Cor. 5:7, for we walk by faith, not by sight--. So pag nag-aral tayo ng bible lagi, don’t get lost in the details look for principles that you can apply in your life. So if God’s word is always fulfilled why is it that His word will always fulfilled? Because God is in control of all history, one writer said it is his story, it is God’s story. God is in control. How many of you have trials? Bakit tayo binibigyan ni God ng afflictions? Let’s read 2 Cor. 1:3-4, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; [4] who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. You know you are probably afflicted? So that one day you will be able to comfort others. And turned to 2 Cor. 1:6-7, But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; [7] and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort. Binibigyan po tayo ng trials ng Panginoong Diyos many times because He wants to allow us to experience His comfort. If you follow God, God will bless you. Come to God because you believe in Him, because you love Him okay? So if you come to God just looking for money you might get it one day but you know kaya ba nating lokohin ang Panginoon? Hinde eh, the God who is in control of all history, we cannot deceive God. If you are coming to God, you cannot come proud, you must come humble, acknowledging that God is in total control and through all our lives that’s the one lesson we need to learn and it comes out in prophesy. So God’s word is true, it will always be fulfilled. 2) God is in control of all history, you take those two principle therefor what should we do? Ws should trust God’s word completely. How do we do that? It will always express through obedience to His word. Sometimes we don’t trust God’s word, when are those times? When it goes against what we think is right. Right?, kaya sabi ni Maricar kanina mahirap pag financially independent ang babae, it is very difficult for that woman to all of a sudden get married begin to submit to her husband especially if you are earning more than him. So it is those times when God says, "Submit to your husband in all things." The best way to make your husband feel ten feet tall is to praise him and obey him, respect him. God says, What the husband needs is a lot of boosters to boost his …When are times we don’t obey, we don’t trust? When goes against what we really believe. So pag lasenggera yung asawa mo papano ka mag-sasubmit non? Ang hirap and yet God’s word says, "Submit." Kunyari yung boss mo, he’s very harsh, What does the bible say? If he is your boss even if he is harsh follow him, respect him. We argue with God’s word, we really do and then we don’t obey. In my own experience this is the singular lesson the bible wants to teach us, it is so amazing itong book ni God pag kinuha mo lahat ng verses from Genesis 1hanggang sa Revelation pag tinotal mo lahat yung verses na yon tapos kinuha mo yung middle na verse do you know what’s the middle verse of the entire bible? It is not accidental. Let’s turn our bible to the middle verse it is in Psalm 118:8-9
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
Than to trust in man.
[9] It is better to take refuge in the LORD
Than to trust in princes.
This is the singular trust of God’s word. If you come to a point in your life where you now trust God’s word completely, I can promise you an abundant life. If you trust God, Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And do not lean on your own understanding.
[6] In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
When I began to trust God, God brought back my family to me and I began to trust God, God brought back my wife, next to God the greatest thing on earth is my wife. And we’re back together as a family because we trust God. There are many things in life that cannot buy, lot’s of things money can buy but money cannot but love, money cannot buy relationships, money cannot buy hugs which are electrical. And when we trust God with all of our hearts we can be sure of what? You see in Daniel what is the certainty, there will be tribulation and we will study that in detail, magkakaron ng problema sa buhay but you know what anong ending nito? Who’s kingdom will prevail? God’s mahihirapan yung mga saints sa mundo but in the end we will be victorious. You know if you trust God, if you obey God you will be part of that ending, you will be hinde natin nakikita yung nasa gitna ang nakikita natin yung ending, maganda yung, "And they live happily ever after." So whatever your trials are in your life today can you please humble yourself and trust God. This is the greatest expression of humility. Even though it goes against your own understanding trust Him. Let us pray.
