DANIEL 7TH session
March 5, 1997 - Jonis Mkt.
These are very painful moments and sabi sa Bible when those painful moments come out we need to mourn. I really mourn when I hear a testimony like that, when I hear that there’s somebody who was memorize the Bible and is committing adultery it really pains my heart and I’d like to re-iterate to every single one of you because I’ve heard it again and again. People say to me, ‘I am saved by God’s grace through faith and therefore ones saved I am always saved. The Bible warns us, If you continue to live an adulterous life it does not matter how many verses you have memorize if you refuse to repent of sin, the Bible is very clear there is only one place for you and it’s a heaven that’s guaranteed. We can show you those verses in virtually all the epistles and I’ve heard it again and again from people who have been shared their gospel to and sometimes it’s our fault, we don’t share it like the Bible tells it. If you are not holy there is no way you can expect to go to heaven period no questions about it. So if we’re playing around that kind of sin, please do not do that you come and see me really we mean it, we will not condemn you if you’re struggling with adultery or your thinking about it call me. So that we can be of help and most people here know that I don’t really mind if you call me at 2:00, I’ll be a little sleepy or teased but I will be with you.
So basically, we are now in Chapter 2, and we will begin to look at the dream of the king. The first part of prophesy in Daniel. Let’s start reading again as we did last week. Daniel 2:25-30
Then Arioch hurriedly brought Daniel into the king's presence and spoke to him as follows: "I have found a man among the exiles from Judah who can make the interpretation known to the king!" [26] The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, "Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen and its interpretation?" [27] Daniel answered before the king and said, "As for the mystery about which the king has inquired, neither wise men, conjurers, magicians, nor diviners are able to declare it to the king. [28] "However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the latter days. This was your dream and the visions in your mind while on your bed. [29] "As for you, O king, while on your bed your thoughts turned to what would take place in the future; and He who reveals mysteries has made known to you what will take place. [30] "But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me for any wisdom residing in me more than in any other living man, but for the purpose of making the interpretation known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind. "You, O king, were looking and behold, there was a single great statue; that statue, which was large and of extraordinary splendor, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was awesome. [32] "The head of that statue was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, [33] its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. [34] "You continued looking until a stone was cut out without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and crushed them. [35] "Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were crushed all at the same time, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth. [36] "This was the dream; now we shall tell its interpretation before the king. Basically the king so what? What was unique about the statue? Okay, iba-iba ‘yung mga materials na ginagamit and there was this huge rock that came in and hit the faith. Let’s read, what is the interpretation of this dream, kasi kung hinde sinabi sa iyo ni God, this could mean to anything, right? What does it mean? V. 37, "You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength, and the glory; [38] and wherever the sons of men dwell, or the beasts of the field, or the birds of the sky, He has given them into your hand and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold. [39] "And after you there will arise another kingdom inferior to you, then another third kingdom of bronze, which will rule over all the earth. [40] "Then there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; inasmuch as iron crushes and shatters all things, so, like iron that breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all these in pieces. [41] "And in that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have in it the toughness of iron, inasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with common clay. [42] "And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of pottery, so some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle. [43] "And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery. [44] "And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever. [45] "Inasmuch as you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is true, and its interpretation is trustworthy." Okay, so it’s a simple dream that nobody could interpret and si Daniel binigyan siya ng Panginoong Diyos ng ability to interpret the dream. So let’s go through it. What did the statue represent? The most unique thing about it was what not that it was awesome pero it was made of different materials and this represented what? Okay four different kingdoms, The gold one was who? In v. 37, Babylon okay, you are the king of kings. The kingdom of Babylon was the largest the most ancient one. It was done in 626 B. C. so the dream came and said to the king, "Eto, ikaw yan, ikaw yang ulo na yan and that was way back how many years ago is that? two thousand six hundred something. And then the predictions begin, can you imagine you were Daniel, you were begin to predict … v.39, And after you there will arise another kingdom inferior to you then a third kingdom of Bronze will rule over the earth so, the Silver represent another kingdom, What kingdom is that? How do you know it’s the Persians, how do you know it’s the Meads? So, Silver, How do you know it’s the Persians or the Meads. In other parts of the Bible, it tells us what happened and actually in history books we know that another kingdom over took the Babylonians, in fact if you go to Chapter 5 of Daniel it will tell you that it was the Meads and the Persians we will show you that later on. We know this from history. How many of you know Darius? He was a famous king. In 539 B. C. and his claim to fame, nakita ko sa sine ito minsan this king he had a rope na tinali niyang ganon, nobody can untie it. Until one day, the third kingdom came around, there was this young man and he began the kingdom of Bronze. What’s his name? Greek, his called Alexander the great Darius dared him. You know, untie this knot I’ll give you my kingdom, so this smart Alexander, you know what he did? He drew a sword and he cut it, there it’s untie. So at the young age of twenty something he became the big boss. This happen when? History records it for us. Alexander took over the then known world at 300 B. C. you know what his greatest regret? This young kid age twenty plus, his greatest regret in life there were no more kingdoms to conquer. So, that was his greatest frustration and then somebody killed him. The fourth one, Iron and clay, The Roman Empire, This is the longest running of them all. Now we know the facts, does that do us any good? So we know the facts that’s what you come to Bible study for. What is the principle behind all of these? When you study prophesy, what you understand is if I read the facts behind this facts everything in the bible is written for you and for me. It has something to do with you and me. If it has nothing to do it will not be here. What does this big statue had to do with me? What does this dream of this king? So, we will go. One of the first thing that we can pick up. What is the key word that you would say is the dream about, it’s about what? Kingdoms, very good! If you read 1John 4, What word will you see there? Love. So, ito these are about kingdoms. What can we learn about kingdoms? What do you mean by greater to lesser? Very good! It begins with gold. The kingdoms of this world 1) It Deteriorates, this exactly what the second law of Thermo Dynamics says, it deteriorates in value from gold to clay. Which is stronger gold or iron? Iron, What’s the second D you can see from the world? It Divides. So the world 3D Deteriorates, Divides and then eventually it will be Destroyed. It is interesting to see that this is exactly what happens to a lot of marriages. At the wedding day everything is gold, every thing is golden, you have golden dreams, everything is nice. Do you know how much preparation there is for a wedding? It’s absolutely incredible, you know have committees, organizing all sorts of things, and I keep telling the people who are getting married, "Don’t prepare for the wedding, prepare for the marriage!" it’s more important than the wedding. The wedding lasts one night. So dito yung kingdom ng mundo which is represented by marriage that’s the real kingdom it deteriorates then what will happen? it will divide into a little kingdoms and then if it divides it will eventually be destroyed. Did you know that everything that will build in now, it will be destroyed the curious thing about the kingdom is what will you see? The first kingdom was over taken by another one but look at the Roman kingdom, what happen to it? Was it conquered by anybody else? Did it fall apart? Politically the Roman kingdom got destroyed but do you know the Roman kingdom still very much alive today. What are the Romans famous for? Roads! They built roads. Are they still here? Absolutely for progress to happen there must be roads. Do you understand why Jesus came during the Roman time? Why did Jesus not come during the Babylonian time? Walang daan, now you will understand the fun that Jesus came during the Roman time and Jesus said, "I am the way, I am the via." You see roads were necessary for the gospel of Jesus to be … other wise how could they go? They can’t go ? What else is Roman famous for? After roads, they’re famous for law, see the Roman law they instituted the Roman law. So, there was now a common basis for doing everything that’s why they had peace. That law has carried out to our politics. Who invented the senate? Are they still here? Absolutely, they’re still here. So you have roads, you have their politics. What else is Rome famous for? You know they were very famous for religion all of the religions together they melded it into one. Do we still have that? Absolutely!, you know we have a lot of influences we don’t even know but they are still here. Nothing conquered with the Roman Empire and according to that pag tiningnan mo yung statue kailan darating yung kingdom of God? Was it during the head of gold? During when? Iron and what’s that? the Roman Empire… are you hearing what I’m saying? When Jesus first came what did he first say? Repent! For what? The kingdom of God is at hand, during the Roman Empire… see what happened there? There was a big what? Stone, a rock. Now, who’s the Rock? Rock of man. So God’s kingdom what can we learn? 1) If you notice the rock what do you learn from the rock? It is not man made. How do you know? The rock just came it is not human. You know why this things deteriorate? You know why everything here is destroyed? They’re all man centered. Everything man centered will deteriorate for sure. No matter how good they look, they will one day deteriorate.
Let’s turn our Bible to 1Peter 1, What is the destiny of everything that is human na naka-center na sa human. Let’s read 1Peter 1:23-25, for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God. [24] For,
"ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS,
AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS.
THE GRASS WITHERS,
AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,
[25] BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ABIDES FOREVER."
And this is the word which was preached to you. So dito kitang-kita natin the emphasis is that you have been born again of what kind of seed? ‘yung unang verse natin is a human seed but the second birth is no longer just humans. You are mead of imperishable seed. The kingdom of God is in you it is in you. Everything else will failed, whatever you have in this world it will fail like the grass, like the flowers, it will failed. Who will destroy the human kingdom? God’s kingdom. The rock, who’s the rock? There is only one rock in the entire future, Jesus is the stone that builders rejected. He’s the rock of ages, the ancient rock and mind you, notice what the rock do. Why did the rock not strike the head? Why did he hit the feet? Because Jesus always hits at the… Now it’s represented four kingdom why there is only one statue? Because it’s the same kingdom, it’s the same thing. The outside keeps changing but it’s still the same. It’s the pagan kingdom. The two things that you will know about God is not only that He knows the future but God controls the future. If God did not control the future… so God must have known what would happen not only does He knows, He controls. Is that comfort thing to us? Is that comfort thing to you that God is in control of your future or my future? So, for all of those who were separated from their spouses God still in control. It may not look like it. He cannot failed, He fails in compassion to me but I tell you the grace of God… The second thing about God that we know if He is in control human history, is that God’s word will surely come to us. If God says it, what can we be sure of? It will come to path for sure. So, if the bible says, "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all this things shall be added on to you," what can you be sure of ? if you do that all this things shall be added on to you. That’s why we tell all of the women, do not be afraid. If the bible say, "Submit to your husband in everything, if you do that’s the only time you will be extremely happy. You tried it any other way, you will have destruction in your hand, who’s yours. God’s word will surely come to past. Now, what else can you learn, what are the facts can we know? This you will not see unless you keep reading scripture. Now, I just want to demonstrate to you how rich God’s word is, because we all know that God determines human instinct, we don’t need the Bible for us to get that. that’s the easy one, this one the harder one, this one is not so obvious. The simple formula is get the facts, get the story, get what happened and then translate it. So, what happen? The king had a dream, then they called Daniel, Daniel interpreted the dream. God uses godly people to tell pagans about himself and his word. That’s an important principle. Si king Nebu anong problema niya? Hinde niya maintindihan, A pagan cannot understand spiritual things and therefore God’s plan, God designed it so that godly people will be necessary to tell them about this great God, because otherwise how will they know? They never know. How do we know this? Let’s turn our bible to 1Corinthians 2:14, This is very important application to our life. But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, could God have made Nebuchadnezzar understand? God could have easily done that, but God did not do that, God does not do that so always and ever God works through people. There are many examples for those of you who are taking down notes , go to Acts 8:26, here’s one clear illustration. But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Arise and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a desert road.) [27] And he arose and went; and behold, there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship. [28] And he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. [29] And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot." [30] And when Philip had run up, he heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?" [31] And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. [32] Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this:
"HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER;
AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT,
SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH.
[33] "IN HUMILIATION HIS JUDGMENT WAS TAKEN AWAY;
WHO SHALL RELATE HIS GENERATION?
FOR HIS LIFE IS REMOVED FROM THE EARTH."
So, ang question niya sino yan? Anong ginawa ni Philip? And Philip open his mouth and beginning from scripture in v. 35, He preached who? Jesus to him, can you see this? This is how God’s work, God works through people, God could have save all of us and then angel and tell us the story. How many of you were born again because somebody came along side and talk to you about God? Praise God! look around you this is a truth that you know and we will get something out of this. It’s true in scripture. Example Cornelio in Acts 10. Back to Daniel, God uses people, what kind of people does God use? Notice does God use the intelligent one? The godly ones, does God use the mighty ones? No, see God uses the virtually unknown people and I want to encourage all of us. You turn to 1Corinthian 1:26, For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; v. 27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong. Do you notice who God chose? The foolish like me, now the lesson is don’t be foolish but if you were foolish before that’s good because God chooses the foolish. Should we now be foolish? No more!. God chooses the foolish, God begins with the foolish and then makes you very wise so that you can shame the wise. God chooses the weak things of the world. So if something has made you weak, you don’t have to be a loud mouth to counter that weakness God will use you. No it’s true. Because many times when something awful happens to us we try on our own power. If I am separated then I have to be sexier then my kids have to be this… don’t do it with your own way trust God. Give your weakness to God and He will mold you into such a beautiful person your will never believe what you will turn out to be, God can mold you, God can take our weakness and that’s why sabi ni Paul sa Corinthians, "I’d rather boast in my weakness," but many of us we don’t boast. I like the sharing of Egay, because sabi niya, ‘Alam mo nung araw proud ako’ very few people will say that maybe until now were still proud but he just does know it buy to say that is admitting a weakness and many of us men we never dare to admit any weakness. Let me tell you God works through the weak because if you are strong on your own how can God work through you? God cannot, God takes the weak things of the world to show the strong things of the world and see this guide us weak I will make him strong, the strength of the week. God will not use those kind of people, God uses the weak. To shame the people, so God uses the little one. And so if your feeling today, wala naman akong alam Bro. Ricky, mahina naman akong klase, hinde ko pa alam lahat ng verses; Do you know what you’re saying? if your saying that to yourself, "Hinde ko naman kaya yung mga ministry na yan, etc… What are you saying? You have now just qualified for God’s service kasi mahina ka, as long as you are godly that means you follow God. What are some other things that we can learn? I will teach you four P’s about prophesy, if those are all true what can we learn? What are the 4 P’s of Prophesy in terms of application? The 4 P’s from prophesy action oriented. The first P, we strongly suggest that you Place your life in God’s hand. If God is in control of the future, if He knows the future then we should not be afraid if we put our life in God’s hands. What does that mean? You turn to 1 Peter 5:6&7, Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, [7] casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. Did you notice it did not say, " Cast your problem to God" what did He say you should throw to God? Your anxiety, the awfulness in you, anxiety is not good for you. Does God cares for us yes or no? Yes! Notice cares is present; ‘for He cares for you,’ Now what will God do? look at v.6, that he may what? Exalt you at the proper time. What does that mean? If I surrender my life, if I place my life in God’s hands what will God do? If I trusted Him, I will be exalted. I don’t need to toot my horn to tell people how good I am, how good my child is or how good everything about me is, I don’t need to do that, who will do that? Don’t lift yourself up, don’t do that let God lift you up. But there’s a problem, you what the problem is? We know God will lift us up, we know God will bless us and that’s where the problem comes; when God blesses you, you need to be warn, when God blesses us, we need to really warn. What happens when God blesses me I begin to forget God. We forget God that’s the warning 99% of us will pass the test of poverty. Now 99% will fail the test of prosperity, when God blesses us we will failed the test because now we have many choices, we will forget God. When God begin to bless you even before He blesses you the next P you must put Priority on God’s kingdom. If you priorize God’s kingdom, what will happen? All things shall be added on to you? How do I do that? What does it mean to priorize God’s kingdom? Four T’s to remember on the second P you have four T’s 1) Time, 2) Thought 3) Talent 4) Treasure, How do you know if you are playing for God’s kingdom? You ask yourself the following question. Where am I spending my time? The greatest event in as far as time is concerned is your thought you maybe with somebody but if your thought is somewhere else where are you? You are somewhere else, as a man think it so he is. So, what do you think about? Do we seek first God’s kingdom as far as our thinking is concerned or do we seek other things? How about your talent? God has given you certain talents some can play music, some can drive cars, some can play golf, some can speak well, some can create advertising, some can become wives, are you using your talent for furthering God’s kingdom? Or are you using your talents to further your own kingdom? How about your money? if your Christianity does not hurt your pocket then it may not be a reality. God told this rich man, sabi nung rich man, "What can I do to inherit eternal life?" sabi ni Jesus, "You follow the commandments,"… you go sell everything you have give it to the poor and then you follow me. Anong sabi nung rich ruler? He just turn around, he was sad, he was not willing to park with his treasure. God offered him the chance of a lifetime to be significant and he turned it down kasi he did not understand the reality of earthly kingdoms, he did not understand the treasure on this earth will just disappear, it will deteriorate. Hinde niya naintindihan that I have to play for God’s kingdom, the real treasure is in heaven. Jesus gave us the advice in Matthew 6, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, where should you lay your treasure? In heaven. Where are you laying it? Let me ask you, let me challenge you… Did you know Zaccheus? You know when he got save? Tithe give half, that’s man playing for God’s kingdom, we challenge you, if it does not hurt your pocket book, that kind of Christianity may not be a reality. I’m not saying you have to be poor. Are there rich man in heaven? Of course! Most of us, anong binibigay natin sa Panginoon? Tira-tira, I challenge you. Maybe next week wala ng pupunta rito, it does not matter. We preach God’s word as it’s says it. Why give God the left over? That is not what this means, this means I give God the first place, my best shot. How many of you would like to be winners? Very good! Winners are mark by one thing, their priority if you want to be winner in life you must know what the right priority is and then dedicate your life to that. Any deviation from that, hinde ka magiging winner. You need to understand that, that’s why sabi ni Jesus, "Seek first my kingdom and my righteous." Sabi niya kay Apostle Peter, "Nobody on this earth was given up things for my kingdom whom I will not reward a hundred fold on this earth and in heaven. That’s a promise, God’s word will come true. You have the greatest opportunity to serve God now while your young. Give your four T’s to God. Next, another P, Preach God’s kingdom to others. How many of you have concordance? Okay, I want you to check the word preach. Do you know where you will find most of it? It’s next to the name of Jesus, it’s next to the name of the apostles, it’s next to the name of the people whom God used for his kingdom. Preach God’s kingdom to others. Do we do that? Have you all ever spoken to a pagan like king Nebuchadnezzar about a great God? Have you brag about your God? Have you walked up to your boss and said, "Hey boss! Did you know today, God did something absolutely great in my life," maybe he can do that to you, have you done that? Parents listen, who should you preach to? Your children. What do you talk about in breakfast, lunch, dinner? What you talk about is a reflection of where your interest and treasure is. What do you talk about to your kids? Do you tell them how great God is, do you tell them that ‘Do you know this God, He foresaw the future, He told king Nebuchadnezzar what would happen and you know son it really happened, the way God said it; He’s really a great God." Preach the kingdom to others. In 2Peter 3:10-12, you don’t need to go there. Ang sabi po don, God will destroy this whole world, He will replace it, we will have a new earth, no trace of the past. Did you notice that on Daniel no more trace of the past kingdoms. How can that be? There was an engineer, maybe I told you this story before, ang ambisyon niya nung araw is to build the largest, the longest bridge that was his ambition. Then he read 2Peter 3, where it said there, susunugin ng Panginoong Diyos lahat ng bagay sa mundo, then he began to think; why will I make that my goal in life, to build a longest bridge if God will destroy it anyway. So, instead of building the longest bridge I will become the bridge to God, I will bring others to the kingdom, I will be the bridge. Have you been the bridge? Are you like Daniel, are you like Philip? I’m talking to some of you who are I know heads of your copanies, be a bridge, use your power, use your influence, let’s change this world. Used what God has given to you, see God gave Daniel ability to interpret dreams, to bring hin in front of the king. If God has put you in position of power or influence, use it to preach God’s kingdom. Don’t be afraid. Preach God’s kingdom, don’t settle for anything less, do it gently, do it nicely, do it politely but preach the kingdom of God. Last, Pray for God’s kingdom to come. Did Jesus teaches that? Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be thy name thy kingdom come… some of us are not even aware of the kingdom. This is what this bible is all about, establishment of God’s kingdom. When God kingdom is establish what will happen? Look at the prayer, Thy kingdom come… where God’s kingdom is, God’s will is there. Basically the kingdom is the rule of God. If God is ruling in your heart, God’s kingdom is there and therefor you will do God’s will. If everybody is doing God’s will, God’s kingdom is here. Is Jesus already ruling everybody? Not yet but there will come a time when every thumb will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, every kneel will bow to the great Lord. What are the 4 P’s? 1) Place your life in God’s hand 2) Priority 3) Preach the kingdom 4) Pray. Shall we do that, shall we praise the Lord? This evening, He has given us prophesy, His word will be true, seek first the kingdom of God. Do we love Him, are we weak, does He use the weak, are we foolish, then we’re qualified, are we godly? We’re godly, do you have the Holy Spirit in you? if you have God’s spirit in you, you know that you are the temple of God, God is in you and so there is so much goodness in all of you and so you can smile and say indeed thank you GOD.
