Genesis
Lesson 8
NATIONS
Tonight we will be discussing Genesis chapters 9, 10 and 11.
Why do we have different nations?
Gen 9:1 – Adam and Eve were given a command to be fruitful.
Fill is the word "scatter". Be fruitful is the only command God gave that man has completely obeyed.
Gen 9:2 – Man used to be vegetarians.
After the flood in chapter 9 god gave man the permission to eat animals.
Gen 9:3 – food for you. In the New Jerusalem, the lion will lay down with the lamb and the baby will play with snakes. We will be at peace with our environment.
God is our creator and owns everything. He gives permission to eat. He is the owner. What does God own in our lives?
Ps 50:10-12 – God is the owner
1 Cor 6 – implication. He owns us three times over.
1st time – by virtue of creation
2nd time – by virtue of redemption
3rd time – when we commit and surrender our lives to him.
1 Cor 6:19-20 – bought with a price. What determines value and price of something? The price is determined by what we are willing to pay.
1 Cor 6:19 – you are not your own, you have been bought with a price. You don’t own yourself. You gorify God in your body. Flee immorality.
If you live a holy life only because your wife is watching you, it is not good enough. Why do we need to be holy? Because I am not my own. I have been bought with a price. Temptation is always present.
Money – Deuteronomy
Duet 8:10-12 – when you have eat and have forgotten God, we do not keep his commandments.
Boast in their riches?
Deut 8:18 – God is the one who gives us the power to make wealth
Man who won lotto the U.S. $10 Million but died.
When you die, how much will you leave behind? Make more money? Need to think how balance our time.
In these verses, he gave the instruction; one of them is our diet, the other not to kill. There is a tendency today to consider something right as wrong or to consider something wrong as right. The principle of relativism. Morality is no longer absolute. But what makes something right? What makes something wrong? What makes it a crime for Adam to eat from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? Why was it wrong? It was wrong simply because God said so.
What makes it wrong to kill someone? God says so!
US Congress makes it illegal for men to marry men and women to marry women? The filed a bill so that Jude will not marry people of the same sex. This new movement is called by many people as "narrow mindedness". Why are you involved in our lives? If we marry each other, it is our business. Christian congressmen and senators came up with the following argument. If a son wants to remarry his mother, is it okay? Where do you draw the line? Where do you put the limit? What makes something right and what makes something wrong?
Lev 20:10 – Adultery – Style of Satan. Maybe it’s cultural, no longer applicable today. If we were to follow this law, we don’t even need to divorce. Why? We will all be dead. You are free.
v. 11-13 – whoever lies with a male – talks about homosexuality. It is a detestable act. Many things in the Philippine laws that forbid incest. Philippine laws are patterned after he U.S. laws. U.S. laws are patterned after the British laws and the British laws are patterned after the Judeo’ Christian laws.
Go to any pagan culture and you will clearly see the difference in their society. You will not like it since someone else may steal your wife and get away with it. Someone can one day decide he wants to get your cow and steals it, and you can’t do anything about it.
As we look at the laws of God, we will see the character of God. We will know something more about who He is and about his character.
Honor thy father and mother is that God’s law? Yes.
Or do you like the law that says you can steal your neighbor’s wife.
There is a culture in Palawan. At night you can steal anybody’s wife. When you take her, she becomes yours. The problem in the churches of Palawan’s tribal areas, you have to re-educate the people.
Did you ever stop to wonder why the Bride is always on the left? Because on the right the man is holding a sword to protect his wife from anyone who comes to steal her away.
Instead of being afraid of the laws of God you and I must praise God for this wonderful laws. What is your attitude towards God? Satan is a liar. He tells us God’
S laws are burdensome. He tells us the problem with Christianity is it narrows down to Christian life. You can no longer enjoy life.
Now ask the people of the world, those who have many wives and husbands? Are they happy?
Ps 119:97 – what is the attitude towards God’s laws? Notice what the inspire writer of Scripture says>
Ps 119-27 – Oh, how I love they Law. Thy commandments make me "wider than my enemies. You may not have a college degree however when you study the Word of God, you will have more insight than any other learned man will.
Statistics have shown that people who have premarital sex before marriage. Don’t get involved with physical because there is a price to be paid when God gave us the law, it is for our protection. What makes something right? Only when God says so. He is the final judge because he is the Lawgiver.
Rom 14:11-12: - Someday society will not judge you. Society makes laws contrary to the Word of God. It is written "As I live, say s the Lord, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall give praise to god.
Rom 14:12 – each one shall give an account of himself to God. Why is it wrong to have idols? Only because God says so and you shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ.
2 kinds of judgement
1 for believers
1 for unbelievers
Unbelievers – it is horrifying
For the believers – it is also scar
Rev 6:12 – what is going to happen? What will happen the last day?
You be the one to interpret.
6th seal - the stars and the sky falls on the earth.
Rev 6:14 – sky was split apart like a scroll.
Every mountain and island will move, great men, rich and the strong, and every slave and free man, they hid themselves among the caves. Why are they hiding?
Heb 9:27 – someone wanted to commit suicide and end his life.
We die only once, there is no reincarnation. Reincarnation tells us there is always a second chance. God is the ultimate lawgiver and he is the final judge. Capital offense is biblical in the Old Testament, although there are safeguards. For every capital offense you need at least 2 witnesses. One witness will not be enough to convict someone of a crime. God wants his people to travel around the world. There was rebellion
Gen 21:11 – the whole earth used the same language and the same words.
They committed to sins. Instead of depending on God, they became man-centered. Nothing wrong with unity but if we are united for the wrong purposes then it is wrong. When mankind got together, instead of glorifying God they decided to find a way to heaven apart for the word of God.
Many scholars tell us that are the "ziggurat" temple of Marduch, rectangular tower that goes all the way up and every level there were gardens. The idea was to reach all the way up. And then there is a hole in the middle. They discovered astrology. They wanted to know their future apart from dependence on god.
What spirit is that? Wanting to exalt self, rather than God? Spirit of Lucifer. What was the command of god? Scatter. What was the judgement?
What do you learn about god? He is in control of history. When things happen that may disrupt his ultimate plant he intervenes. Can you imagine what would have happened if the world had a 1 world dictator? What would happen to society? God said it is not good.
Today the United Nations is forming. If you study the manuscript of he United Nations there is a secret group of people they want to forma world government. That world government actually is in place today but people are not really aware of it.
There is a computer in Brussels actually called the BEAST.
Brussels Electronic Accounting Surveillance Terminal.
It can control everybody and the code of 18 digits, starts with the numbers 666.
Some Christian people in government are fighting this tendency to pray into each person’s life. They have come up with chip data that they can literally put in your hand or forehead.
When the book of Revelation was written, pe9ople did not have any idea what this author was talking about. The world may seem chaotic. Who is in control?
When Gog judged this people, how were they dispersed?
Gen 10: - something happened. What happened when they were cursed by God?
Gen 9:9-10 – Noah began farming. The bible does not tell us exactly what his son did. When he got drunk, one son did something. Some say it could have been sexual perversion, we don’t know for sure because the bible is silent.
Gen 9:25 – servant - Noah cursed the descendants of Ham – Canaan. Why?
Why did the father curse the descendants? One theory

Caucasians.
Gen 10:2 – sons – gome Magog
Gen 10:6 – sons of Ham
canaanites – south, basic geographic
Some people use this verse to just8ifiy slavery because this verse just talks about Canaan. Canaanites became enslaved to Shem (Israelites)
Gen 11:10 – Shem descendants
Gen 11:24 – Abraham
Jewish race is from the family line of Shem.
Gen 10:210 who is older? Japeth – older than Shem
Gen 10:30 –31
Gen 10:11-19 – descendants of Ham – Sodom and Gomorrah
Gen 10:5 – Japheth
Gen 10:6-20 – Ham

Gen 9: God is a god who initiates covenants. Covenant definition is an agreement
Gen 9:8 – 3 types of covenant in the Bible
1. Royal grant – unconditional grant
Noah’s covenant – unconditional promise never to destroy the earth with water again.
Parity Covenant – 2 parties
Sussern vassal covenant – king tells you and pays you.
In the bible you have many major covenants
Matt 26 – who compelled God to make this covenant?
No one forces Him. He makes the covenant because he is good. God keeps his covenant.
David committed the sin of adultery but god kept his covenant.
Matt 26:26-29 - every time we observe the Lord’s supper, we re-enact the blood covenant. Jesus Christ died for us on the cross. If you accept him as your Lord and Savior, believe that he suffered the righteous for the unrighteous. If you believe Jesus shed his blood for us sinners, what is this covenant? You will receive forgiveness of sin.
Heb 10:10-17 – their sins I will remember no more.
We have done things that are embarrassing. On judgement day, what will Jesus do, if you sincerely repented and committed your life to Jesus Christ? Their sins I will remember no more.
Heb 10:29-31 – bible does not give you license to sin. In fact, it tells us to run away from sin.
Do you take the blood of Jesus as a license to sin? How do you look at his sacrifice?
0:17 – he is precious
What can we learn about God tonight? He is only our creator. He owns everything.
God is the ultimate lawgiver and therefore he is the final judge.
Therefore he can scatter the nations. He can do anything he wants.
God initiates covenants and keeps his covenants.
Prayer.
