The Lord is my shepherd…
Psalm 23:1

Sheep. No country ever used this animal as their symbol. None wanted to be associated with it either. Why? For one, sheep rank in intelligence just below the pig and even with cattle. They are also timid, nervous and easily frightened animals and for most part defenseless against predators. But sheep is how the Lord called His followers and He called Himself the Shepherd.

David was the first one to declare the Lord as his Shepherd. In his most popular Psalm, David acknowledged the Almighty God and declared who the Lord is in every moment of his life.

The Lord is my shepherd Jehovah Rohi The Lord my shepherd
I shall not want Jehovah Jireh The Lord my provider
He leads me beside still waters Jehovah Shalom The Lord my peace
He restores my soul Jehovah Rapha The Lord my healer
He leads me in the path of righteousness Jehovah Tsidkenu The Lord my righteousness
I will fear no evil for You are with me Jehovah Shammah The Lord who is present
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies Jehovah Nissi The Lord my banner
You anoint my head with oil Jehovah Maccaddesh The Lord my sanctifier

Who is the Lord to you? Who is God in this time of your life?

God will take care of you,
