Modern Women: Radically Complete in Christ

It was a stormy Saturday morning last June 25 since the rain had not stopped pouring down the day before. I almost considered opting out of the event “The Art of Being a Woman and other lost virtues” in CCF Ortigas. However, I reminded myself that I would miss out on a great learning opportunity, had I balked at attending that single women’s conference.

True indeed, single women including myself have been enormously blessed with the several things that the speakers talked about on the pursuit of true beauty, purity, modesty, excellence, and undivided devotion. Some men even graced the occasion so they could share their thoughts on women.

I would like to quote what sister Deonna Tanchi said that God had spoken to her, “Am I not enough?” She was referring to God’s redeeming love and grace through His Son, Jesus, who can only fill the void or emptiness in our God-shaped vacuum. Sister Deonna stressed that being dependent on Christ does not mean being complacent, but it reflects having complete faith that God’s will in our lives is the best for us.

As a “young” born again Christian (since I have only come to Jesus Christ two years ago), God has been telling me to declutter the things that I need to let go of in my life. Thus, this requires major changes in all areas of my life. The foremost thing that God has asked me to surrender is my self-will. I believe most Christian women would agree with me that surrendering to God means “losing our self-centeredness” so we can be “Christ-centered” individuals. This may seem a tall order to fill but with the help of the Holy Spirit working in us it is possible. Thus, as we humble ourselves before God, and as we align our plans to His Divine will, He can transform our character flaws in Christ likeness, and He can turn our lives around.

In light of this, the pursuit of true beauty, purity, modesty, excellence, and undivided devotion to God will follow suit when we fully entrust our lives to the hand of our Maker.  Consequently, a new generation of women would stand out from the rest of the crowd, and they are those who are radically different and complete in Jesus Christ, our Lord.  God is our God’s best so ladies let us remain secure in the love of Christ.
