Jesus is risen! He is risen indeed!

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important doctrinal truth. It is the foundation of our faith. Jesus’ rising from the dead proves His claim of being the only Lord and Savior. Christ’s resurrection is the glue that holds Christianity together.

As Timothy Keller eloquently expressed, “The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.”

The resurrection is why we accept Jesus’ life and teachings.

Throughout history, the identity and resurrection of Jesus Christ has been challenged. Yet God’s truth still prevails. The most respected and the brightest legal heavyweights such as Sir Lionel Luckhoo and Simon Greenleaf found themselves to be absolutely convinced that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was a proven historical event. They even declared it as “one of the best documented events in the history of mankind.”

In John 14:6, Jesus declares, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus’ claim reflects an exclusive truth. This may seem like a narrow-minded statement. But this verse accurately describes how Jesus is the one and the only way to the Father. Therefore, we must reject false religions and beliefs.

No other religion worships a God who became man, lived, died, and rose from the dead for the redemption of His creation. Christianity also allows itself to be questioned, investigated and tested, because it is not afraid to be scrutinized. God also gave us prophecies that prove His Word to be faithful and true.

As Christians, we must not be boastful or proud, but make it our mission to share this universal truth lovingly and courageously to unbelievers. In our spiritual growth and walk with God, we must constantly ask ourselves, “Who is Jesus to me?”

When questioned by the high priest (Matt 26:63-64), Jesus affirmed that He indeed was the Messiah, the Son of God! Jesus gave us the highest moral standard. He also healed the blind, the deaf, and the lame. He cast out demons and even walked on water. Everything about Him is unique! There is truly no one like Him.

But the most unique fact about Jesus is His death and His resurrection. Jesus’ life and resurrection is evidenced by the empty tomb, the numerous eyewitness accounts, the changed lives of the disciples and the unbelievers. Suddenly people were willing to die for Jesus. Not even the high priests, Roman government, or even Satan could prevent the resurrection of Jesus.

To know God intimately, we must know the Risen Savior. He desires to have a relationship with us. Our faith in Jesus Christ gives us the forgiveness from our sins and the certainty of eternal life. People who encounter Jesus Christ are never the same again.

Therefore let us stand firm and let nothing else move us, because when we give our lives for the Lord, our labor is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58).
