Breaking the Earthen Vessel

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the
power will be of God and not from ourselves 2

Corinthians 4:7

One of the inevitable practices a master potter does whenever he is making a pot is that the pot needs to be broken over and over again for the pot to be perfect. A master potter doesn’t settle with what’s good, he wants the best to come out of his creation.

In as much as the Master Potter keeps on breaking and redoing the pot, we ourselves are like that with God as our potter. He molds us, shapes us, and at times breaks us just so He can remold us to a better version of ourselves.

Being broken is never easy. That’s the time when you’ll be most vulnerable. That would be the time where you would have to admit to yourself that you are weak, powerless and helpless. And that would be the time when the Lord starts to use you.

The Lord’s promise is never to harm us but to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11). Being broken is just an inevitable process that we must undergo to be molded into a better earthen vessel, a better clay pot.

“We must love Jesus enough to allow Him and to trust Him to break open our lives. We need to come to Him and with humility and repentance, seek intimacy with Him more than anything else in our lives.”

-Joby Soriano

Oh Take me, mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the potter’s hand

Oh Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the potter’s hand
