Don’t Waste TIME – Put GOD First

Don’t Waste TIME – Put GOD First

What would you do if you knew you only had 4 weeks to live?

How do you keep time? Do you wear a wristwatch; do you carry a cell phone that gives you the time? Do you know what that’s called? It’s called two timing. Hehehe

How do you keep time? Most you keep time by what we call the atomic time. You follow not just night and day but you live by seconds, minutes, and hours.

Today I would like to recommend that you change the way you keep time. Live by God’s Time. This means that we don’t live in terms of seconds, minutes and hours but in terms of the personal choices we make on a daily basis to honor God.

What time did you wake you today? Did you answer me using hours and minutes again? That’s atomic time. By the way, you didn’t wake up, you were awakened by God. You woke up on God’s Time. Do you realize that He gave you the blessing of another day? When you opened your eyes today God gave you the gift of life.

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:15-16, Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your (God’s) time, because the days are evil.

Today, people are slaves of time. Men and women are overbooked, overscheduled, overcommitted and overworked. Not having enough time to do God’s will.

Everyone is caught up in the busyness of life!

All I know is that God has entrusted us with 24 hours each day to use as wise stewards.

Imagine there is a bank that deposits P86,400 into your account each morning. Would you like that? Every evening at midnight, it withdraws or takes back whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Use every peso of course!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it gives you 86,400 seconds. Every night it considers as lost whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. “No rollover minutes with God!”

Each day God opens your account with an equal amount for you and everyone else. At the end of the day, the balance goes to zero. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours. There

is no going back. There is no drawing against “tomorrow.” You must live in the present on today’s deposits. God wants us to make the most of His time so as to get and give from it our love for God, to fulfill our purpose and to serve others! God’s Time is running. Make the most of today.

The problem with your time is not the clock, it’s how you use it. To get mad at the clock is like getting mad at your weighing scale in your bathroom. It’s not the scales’ fault that you don’t like the number you read. Time is simply a measurement.

As we study Jesus’ life, we see that He never seemed to be in a hurry. Although He was doing the most important job in history (redeeming the world), and although He knew He only had a few years to do it, He never ran. He made time to consider the flowers and the birds of the air. He had time to put his hands on the little children and bless them. Time was His friend.

God, thru His Word, gives us some great insight into how TIME can become our friend rather than our enemy.

Psalm 90:10, As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years, yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away.

Psalm 90:12, So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

God says we should treasure time as a valuable commodity. God says every day is so precious, we should treasure it and number it.

Time waits for no-one. Treasure every moment you have.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift…. That’s why it’s called the “present!”

Have you ever heard the expression, “time is money?” It’s not true. Time is much more valuable than money. “You can make more money but you can’t make more time.”

How do we Treasure Time? Ask yourself – Am I using God’s Time to do what He wants me to do? If you and I are fulfilling God’s purpose and design for our lives, we can be sure that we are using our time wisely.

Are you called today to be an accountant, a salesperson, a student, a call center agent, a homemaker, a teacher, a businessman, or a missionary? Whatever it is, you believe God wants you to do, it must always result in being more like Him and leading others to know Him.

God’s Time is a gift from Him and every moment must be enjoyed no matter what it is we are doing.

Colossians 3:17, And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

As a Christian, you can enjoy life because your conscience is clear. You can enjoy life because you are secure in God’s love. You can have fun serving and learning to put the interests of others first.

Joy comes from service. God designed you to be joyful when you are giving your life away. Why? Because He wants you to become like Him. It’s all about love!

As we serve with God’s Time, we will be blessed and be a blessing to others.

I started this article with the question of what would you do if you had 4 weeks left to live. Some of you may have 4 weeks, others 4 months, 4 years, and still others 40 years. Whatever the case, Jesus says to us, the time is coming when you will not be living by time. Eternity is coming soon. Are you certain which side of eternity you will live? The life you live in the present will determine the life you will live in the future. Make sure that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. He gave His life for you. Have you given yours to Him?

Don’t live by seconds, minutes or hours, you’ll end up frustrated. Live by God’s TIME. It’s a precious gift. May you use God’s Time in your life now – to change your life for all time!
